Hi Jim,
My name is Fred Schuler formally Frederick George
Schuler III BM3. at BSU1 69&70.
Before my discharge I was in R.D.T.&E. Inside
the BSU compound. There was a SEAL photographer that I worked for throwing out
old photos. I snatched a couple and I just found one I'm sending you to see if
you can figure out who it is. The other one is of Jim Bunning in one of the
earlier boats. A fiberglass twin outboard about 18 ft. We had one at the amphib
base too. I remember one of the officers, that had a Corvette, lost his drivers
license, and for a while one of us on duty had to go across the harbor every
morning, and take him back at night. I'll write you when I find more pic. FRED

Hi Terry,
The picture (above right) was probably taken in '68 and is of
the original STAB boat. It was a Boston Whaler hull with 115hp outboard
engines. I drove one before the LSSC's arrived in country. Spider (that was
his nickname) was awarded a bronze star for piloting this craft to extract a
seal squad from a canal on the Bassac River near Tan Dinh Island. Jim was
married to his high school sweetheart, Janice and delivered flowers for a
florist before he went into the Navy. I think Jim grew up in the Bellflower
area. - Denny
